MPAC's Spring Recital 203
PROGRAM
Message from the Artistic Director
Carla S. Gibbs-Zellmer
Welcome to our twenty-first presentation of MPAC’s Spring Recital!
Today’s performance includes the entire MPAC school. Our youngest dancers in the Tiny Tots class are two years old, and our oldest dancers are 18, and we have every age represented in between. Some of our dancers began taking classes less than a year ago, and some of our dancers have been dancing what seems like all their lives, so far. My point is, you’re going to experience a wide variety of abilities and levels, but regardless of where each dancer is in their learning journey, I am so proud of each and every one of them because all have worked so hard to get where they are today. Please show them your appreciation with your frequent applause. Keep in mind that in the dance world, it is totally appropriate to clap during a dance. You don’t have to wait till it’s finished, like an orchestra concert. Show them your love and support throughout.
This August will mark our twenty-second year of business, and we’ve been so blessed having so many incredible students and parents involved with MPAC over these years. We appreciate and love all of you. There have been some extra-special families that have gone above and beyond, helping us, volunteering, and rolling up their sleeves to pitch-in. We could not do what we do without these families. We acknowledge the students that reach banner years, but we also like to acknowledge these parents for all the service they’ve provided, including putting up with me and Bryan, and always doing a great job. I'd like to recognize those parents who have reached banner years with us, including Dan Torres, who has been building sets and running the stage crew for us for 21 years, Christine Williams, who has been running the box office and bake sale for us for 20 years, and Barbara Sudano, who has been helping with costumes, bookkeeping and other tasks with us for 18 years. Both Christine and Barbara have continued to help us, long after their kids have graduated. This year, we also want to recognize the Dunns, Alison and Kevin, who have staffed the bake sale for the scholarship committee for 18 years and will “retire from MPAC” as Averi graduates this year, and we also want to thank Brianne Erickson, who has been a backstage helper for 16 years, and she’s looking forward to “retiring from MPAC” as Jaydin graduates this year. We will miss the Dunns and Brianne tremendously! And we also want to thank Ashley Torres, who’s helped us out backstage for 15 years.
Thank you for joining us and supporting this local dance school. Today’s all about celebrating the students, their achievements, and lifting up our MPAC family, so again, please show the dancers much love, throughout the show!
Just a quick reminder for our dancers: our Spring Session continues through June 13, and then we have a short break before going into our two Summer Sessions. As always, our Summer Sessions are entirely flexible, and you can join us for 1 week, all 6, or something in between. ...for your financial support!
For those who were in the position to do so today, through your Bake Sale purchases or otherwise, thank you for your support!
Your donations today help us in three ways: to support tuition scholarships (based on financial need), college scholarships (for graduating company members), and general operating support to help us keep our doors open while we manage the otherwise devastating impacts of the pandemic, which we are still recovering from.
We also accept donations by check (made out to "MPAC"), cash (not preferred), and through Venmo & Zelle:
Via Zelle (preferred): carla@mpaconline.com
